Lawrence Wedding Photographer {Sam & Shawn Engagement Session at KU}

Sam and Shawn are getting married in a couple weeks so of course I better blog their engagement images we took in April. Sam and Shawn are super sweet and easy going. They met at the University of Kansas so it was fitting that we photograph their engagement session at KU...one of my favorite places as well! The both love the outdoors, traveling and KU of course. Shawn proposed at Sam's grandpa's lake house. Read their version of the story here:

"Shawn wanted his proposal to Sam to be in a place that was meaningful and special to their relationship. He decided to propose in Northport Point Michigan at Sam's grandparents' home. Sam has been going up to Northport Point every summer since she was a little girl and it is one of her favorite places.

Shawn surprised Sam, when watching the sunset on "The Big Dock", Shawn got down on one knee and proposed! To make NPP even more special, Sam and Shawn found out that Sam's grandfather had proposed to her grandmother in Northport as well. Sam's sister Jen and her brother-in-law Isaac were married there as well on 8/22/09!"

So go check out my favorites from this beautiful Lawrence Engagement Session.

 Can't wait for your wedding in a few weeks!

Lawrence Wedding Photographer {Kara & Tom}

I met Kara through my younger sister and she said.. I like your sister so I'm sure I'd like you too. Kinda funny! Luckily, my sister and I are similar as in nice, sweet people :) I met Kara & Tom shortly before their wedding day and they seemed like such a fun and happy couple. Tom is extremely silly and Kara just adds to that.

The wedding started out on a beautiful sunny day in September. The ceremony spot at Stony Point Hall in Baldwin City/ Lawrence area looked gorgeous with the white chairs and flowers and blue sky. Luckily, it stayed dry and sunny until 15 minutes before the ceremony was to start. Then it started pouring so the ceremony was moved inside.

The reception hall was all DIY. Kara spent endless hours creating a gorgeous, vintage, outdoorsy look to her wedding. Her step-father even cut down a whole tree to create the log center pieces and cake/cupcake stands. The wildflowers in the mason jars were a perfect touch to the center of each table. Another fun idea was the individual fabric pieces that each guest wrote on that would later be sewn together to create a quilt! Also the wine box is something I had never seen before. Both Kara and Tom wrote each other letters and put them in a box that they nailed shut during the ceremony and won't open until years to come.

The night ended with lots of dancing and a serenading the bride. Congrats again Tom & Kara! It was so much fun photographing your wedding!
